hi
all...
I found, on the Summit, a mod, yesterday, that is a
"re-do" of the Proplyon chambers. the mod-maker made it, originally,
to cut down the fps-eatingness, the cpu-use, of those proplyon
chambers, the places that brings 3.2 systems down to their knees!
He also added some weapons and some npcs. now these chambers run
at a lower fps.
"propylon chambers redo", i think is the
name, but it is easy to find in the mod control index, the only mod
of that name. [mw summit is down right at the moment, i cannot
check!]
I began my new game with it...as i wanted to try a
new game without that leveling mod, version 8, of Madd's.
out
in the country away from sedya, i got about 25 fps, at
rest.
however, yesterday i also began a new game WITH madd's
leveler 8, and at the same spot my fps was about 18 to
20!!
At first i thought that it was the leveler mod, but
surely it's scripts are not *that* fps-killing!
then i
realized that this here Propylon chamber mod probably is the
"culprit" in a good sense as probably the game engine calculates
these chambers even if one has not even been to one of them, let
alone not near one!!
thus
perhaps just using this mod might actually increase your framerates
by 4 to 6 fps!! ----and all over the Map too, let alone IN a
chamber!

Thanks for the
heads up.
I rarely ever go into those propylon chambers,
since my computer can't handle them very well. Maybe this mod will
help a bit.

Hmm... not to
spoil the mood but aren't these chambers always interiors? I don't
see how changing them could help overall fps. I suggest you make
some real tests to validate this.
Sorry for being sceptic.

I thought what
caused the FPS problem in the chambers wasn't scripts (so persistant
objects aren't going to be dragging you down), but the particle
animation.
